First, I want to wish my wife Xochitl, the love of my life, a very happy birthday today. I love you, Xochitl. As you may know, when I started the MeidasTouch Network, I didn’t have a deep political background. I was a civil rights lawyer who fought for families in Bakersfield and Colin Kaepernick off the football field. For me, at the heart of MeidasTouch Network is family, even more than politics. It’s worth reflecting on that this Saturday, on my wife’s birthday, and amidst the chaos and upheaval of the Trump administration. At the center of this pro-democracy movement is family. I started this network with my family—my two younger brothers, Brett and Jordy. We felt that corporate media was failing in speaking the truth about the threats to democracy, and we built this network brick by brick with no outside investors to change and reinvent the media landscape...
