DEMDISPATCH: Representation Matters in Democracy!

This election season we have many candidates on the ballot who look like all of us. Their races are a great reminder on how representation matters in democracy - and we are excited to continue to break norms and create a better Massachusetts. This week, we are highlighting two more candidates who will fight for everyone in their communities and work to create a better Commonwealth.    Rep. Liz Miranda is running to be the next State Senator in the Second Suffolk District, and the first Cape Verdean woman in any state senate in the country. As a legislative champion, Liz has been taking action to support working families, small businesses, and immigrant communities in the House and is looking to continue that work in the Senate. In the House, Liz set out to deliver for the community by ending solitary confinement and expanding voting access for incarcerated people. Liz is ready to fight to end discriminatory neighborhood zoning, expand access to quality bus service, and protect the right to access equitable reproductive care.
