  September 19, 2022 Heather Cox Richardson Sep 20     On Saturday, the anniversary of the day in 1787 on which the Framers signed the U.S. Constitution, Attorney General Merrick Garland administered the oath of allegiance to 200 immigrants in the Great Hall at Ellis Island. Even as the administration shifts out of crisis mode, White House public health officials have come nowhere close to such a sweeping statement.
