Take a look at some of our amazing candidates

  Candidates like Senator Catherine Masto, Marcus Flowers, and Senator Mark Kelly are running in critical Senate and Congressional races this November –  and Common Defense is standing behind them. Voting rights, reproductive rights, climate justice – all hang in the balance.  If we want to prevent extremist Republicans like Mitch McConnell from taking back control of the Senate, we need to make sure our majorities are safe, or they  will  continue to implement their discriminatory agenda. But before we get to November, we  have  to make sure that the candidates we put forward are the strongest on the ballot. Amazing candidates like Catherine Masto, who served two terms as Attorney General of Nevada and made history by becoming the  first woman  from Nevada and the  first Latina  ever elected to the United States Senate. A day of remembrance

  Common Defense was founded in 2016, but in many significant ways, our roots are in September 11th. When we began as Veterans Against Trump, it was because Trump embodied the politics of fear and division that grew out of September 11th. It was the politics that glorified violence and made enemies of Muslims, foreigners, and refugees. Trump stood for values that we at Common Defense had learned to reject in part because of our experiences in the war. On our staff and membership, we have veterans that have served in Afghanistan for each of the 20 years of the war. All of our lives have been shaped by the events of 9/11. And we came together as an organization to ensure that what happened after 9/11 – the Forever Wars, the politics of fear, the xenophobia – would never happen again.
