  Here’s a headline on that Big Ugly Bill you may have missed in all of the destruction: Donald Trump and the Republicans are giving giant corporations tax handouts to “incentivize research.” But here’s the catch: it’s for research those companies  already did  years ago, as far back as 2022. As far as I can tell, these giant companies don’t have a time machine. So how are they going to   incentivize  research that has already happened? (Spoiler alert: They’re not.) It gets worse. I just got some data that shows how next year, the federal government will hand out  $67 billion taxpayer dollars to corporations like Tesla and Apple.  To put those numbers into perspective, that is five times what the federal government spends on childcare every year . Meanwhile, Republicans are refusing to lift a finger to prevent millions of Americans’ healthcare premiums from skyrocketing in a matter of weeks.
