CC Newsletter 07 Sept - Chile: Rejection of New Constitution — Paradox of Democracy? Or, Wait and Watch?
Dear Friend, 62% of voters in Chile rejected the proposed constitution last Sunday. It may seem paradoxical. How could they reject a constitution that would guarantee. 50% reservation for women; Education, Health and Social Security and care for all are state responsibility; and also, Rights of Indigenous communities or nations or tribes (by whatever name they be called) would be documented for the first time in Chilean history declaring the country as Plurinational and Multi-cultural (rights of indigenous people of 11 nations e.g., Mapuche, Aymara, Quechua and etc and if some other tribe wants to declare its right as a nation it would also be included); Water will be declared as a Human Right and no personal property will be allowed; Natures’ Rights would be recognised and Climate Change would be declared as an immediate concern and so on so forth If you think the contents of this newsletter are critical for the dignified living and survival of humanity and other species on eart...
