Image
The Politics Report 260 subscribers Jul 30, 2026 Experience this intense Senate Judiciary Committee exchange as Senator Peter Welch and FBI Director Kash Patel go back and forth over official travel logs, key personnel decisions, and a multi-million dollar federal aircraft proposal. During this oversight session, Senator Welch methodically examines the FBI's official record, raising critical questions about premature public statements released during active manhunts and the sudden termination of an 18-year decorated FBI veteran. Presenting flight tracker records alongside budget figures, the Senator presses for complete transparency regarding VIP travel to sporting events, the reduction of $500 million in local police grants, and the precise cost breakdown of an $80 million fleet procurement request. Suing to find out if FBI Director Kash Patel misused government resources to go party at Olympics

Image
Earlier this year — in a video that went viral worldwide — FBI Director Kash Patel was captured drinking beer with (and spraying beer on) members of the U.S. men’s hockey team after they won gold at the Olympics. Patel, who is known to be a hockey fan, claimed that he was in Italy on official FBI business. Two quick points: 1. Partying with athletes in locker rooms has not historically been considered among the duties of FBI directors (or any other government officials, for that matter). 2. The Trump regime does not exactly have the best reputation when it comes to telling the truth. Back in February, Public Citizen launched an investigation to find out whether Patel misused government resources to go party at the Olympics. Under the Freedom of Information Act, we demanded records related to Patel’s trip, such as his official itinerary, receipts, and any meeting agendas. By law, the federal government is generally supposed to respond to Freedom of Information Act requests within ...

Hi there, It’s Wednesday. The UK government is in turmoil after last week’s disastrous election results for the Labour party, with many demanding Prime Minister Kier Starmer to set a timeline for resigning or resign outright. South Carolina Republicans reject map that would have eliminated Rep. Jim Clyburn’s, the sole Democrat representing the state, seat. And FBI Director Kash Patel loses it under Senate questioning about his reported drinking on the job. Patel’s conduct as FBI Director has raised growing concerns about both his qualifications and his ability to responsibly lead one of the country’s most powerful law enforcement agencies. The FBI is not a partisan platform—it is an institution entrusted with national security and the rule of law. When questions about preparedness, temperament, and qualifications are downplayed in favor of spectacle or partisan framing, the public is left without a clear understanding of the risks involved in placing unqualified leadership at the...
