Special Olympics is looking for volunteers!
Volunteer Role: The role of a medical volunteer is to provide basic first aid and injury care to Special Olympics athletes at competition. Common injuries are bumps and bruises, twists and strains, dehydration, and general fatigue. Volunteers would be in a central location so that they have eyes on athletes and can be reached easily if there is an injury. SOMA will provide a fully stocked medical bag and incident reports, but if an injury requires further care, we always encourage coaches or families to call 911. Requirements: CPR/First Aid Certified (copy can be sent over to me) Class A Form (for background/CORI purposes, can also be sent back to me) Completed General Orientation Quiz Protective Behaviors Certification (completed within SO Learn Portal ) Locations: Our biggest need this winter is volunteers at our basketball league sites which run weekly from January to March.
