Another big win for Democrats

Image
SHARED FOR INFORMATION AND EDUCATION ABOUT WHAT IS BEING  ACCOMPLISHED!   The news isn't covering this, but you need to know.   This Tuesday, Democrat Jackson Youmas won his race for Alachua City Commission, flipping that seat for our party. And if you're keeping count at home: that's  29 seats flipped  by Florida Democrats since 2024.   Republicans in Tallahassee are in disarray. Their budget failed. Their redistricting power grab is facing serious legal and political headwinds. The special session is days away. Costs are up, quality of life is down, and leadership has nothing to show for it.   We’re building momentum, one win at a time. Municipal seats. County commissions. State legislative districts. One race at a time. And a new poll of likely Florida voters shows Democrats are statistically tied with Republicans statewide. Floridians are fed up, and they're ready for a change.   If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to make an im...

They couldn’t get the job done

THIS IS SHARED FOR INFORMATION AND EDUCATION...NOT INTENDED AS  A SOLICITATION FOR CONTRIBUTIONS!  IT'S IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THE FAILURES OF REPUBLICAN  GOVERNANCE WHEN THERE ARE SO MANY IMPORTANT ISSUES THAT  THEY SHOULD BE ADDRESSING!     They had one job.    Republicans control our state legislature. Both chambers. The governorship. The courts. Basically, every level of power in Tallahassee, and they still can't do the one thing the Florida Constitution requires of them:   pass a budget.   They ended the sixty-day legislative session without a deal. Now, the special session they promised for this week? Delayed again. Instead, they’ve set an April 20th meeting to push an unnecessary, undemocratic power grab to strip Floridians of fair representation before the November midterms.   Senate Minority Leader Lori Berman said it best:  "We had a giant fight about DEI… discussions about Medicaid work requirements… discussions abo...

We just made history CONGRATULATIONS MAYOR-ELECT EILEEN HIGGINS!

Image
Tonight, Miami made history.   For the first time in nearly three decades, voters chose new leadership, and in doing so, showed the entire country what’s possible when Floridians come together.   This victory belongs to every volunteer and organizer who gave their all, every supporter who believed in a better future for this city, and every voter who showed up and made their voice heard.   Eileen Higgins ran on a promise that the City of Miami should work for everyone who calls it home, and with her as Mayor, that promise will be fulfilled.   This moment is so much bigger than one election. It’s a reminder that when we organize early, often, and everywhere, we can change the story of what’s possible in Florida.   If you can, chip in to keep this momentum going and power the next phase of our organizing across Florida. This is only the beginning as we head into 2026, and we have to be ready for more fights ahead. If you've saved payment info with Ac...

Florida is Next on Trump’s Redistricting List

Image
What’s happening in Florida right now should alarm every one of us.   At Donald Trump’s direction, Florida Republicans are rushing to redraw congressional district lines years before the next census in a blatant attempt to  rig the rules and steal seats ahead of the 2026 midterms.   They’ve already tried it in Texas and North Carolina . If they succeed in Florida, more Republican-led states will follow. CHIP IN NOW TO STAND WITH FLORIDA DEMOCRATS Florida Democrats are preparing an unprecedented legal and organizing fight to protect fair representation and defend the right to vote, but they can’t do it alone.   Here in Massachusetts, we’re stepping up to help, because   a threat to democracy anywhere is a threat to voters everywhere.   Grassroots supporters like you are the key to stopping this dangerous power grab. If you contribute through this email, your donation will be split between the Massachusetts Democratic Party and the Florida Dem...
