You are being watched. This is not conspiratorial thinking. From your movements to your email, your social media posts to your search history, the government's mass surveillance apparatus has its eyes on you from every angle. Nearly all of this happens without a warrant.    The surveillance state has been growing for decades, under the direction of both Democratic and Republican administrations. And with the introduction of AI being added to the mix, things are on track to get worse — exponentially worse. AI is supercharging the government’s capabilities, making it extraordinarily easy for it to track and profile you without your knowledge.   Your privacy is under serious threat.     POGO has long been advocating for and advancing reform to put guardrails on the surveillance state. So you can go where you want, speak to whom you want, think and read and believe what you want, without the fear of being watched.   Confirmation proceedings for Pres...

President Trump is bringing down the weight of the Justice Department on those who dare to question him, disagree with him, or hold him accountable.  This is not normal. This is authoritarianism. We cannot ignore the signs. In a display that abandoned all pretense, President Trump publicly pressured Attorney General Pam Bondi to persecute former FBI Director James Comey, Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA), and New York Attorney General Letitia James in a series of posts on Truth Social on Saturday. He called them all “guilty as hell.”  What are they guilty of?  Comey led an investigation into Trump’s first presidential campaign’s ties to Russia back in 2017.  Schiff led the first impeachment trial against the president during his first term and served on the committee that investigated the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.  James has pursued lawsuits against both the president and the administration over everything from the Trump Organization’s business pra...
