Reading California’s new laws for today’s third story, I found the governor signed something else that day: a 25% tax, starting in 2028, on companies that run private immigration jails, and both of those companies run them in California. The companies ICE pays to lock people up are tied to checks for Republicans, and now a state will be sending them a bill.
