Voters in Rhode Island will decide Round 2 of McKee vs. Foulkes in the state's gubernatorial primary today, before the New England Patriots kick off the new NFL season with a Super Bowl rematch against the Seattle Seahawks. (The game starts at 8:20 p.m. on NBC.) We'll have the results of both tomorrow, but first let's get to all of today's news: Healey's take on Tompkins: After his acquittal on federal extortion charges last week, Suffolk County Sheriff Steve Tompkins (or at least his lawyer and spokesperson ) said he plans to return to the job in the near future. But when asked by WBUR's Eve Zuckoff if she supports the fellow Democrat returning to the job, Gov. Maura Healey didn't exactly reply with a yes.
