The one-day-only event kicks off a roaming New England exhibition (in partnership with Chelsea-based Kayem) featuring famous 18th century paintings — with hot dogs added. Now, to the news: Second act:   Three years after unveiling  its monument on Boston Common , the nonprofit Embrace Boston is planning its next downtown landmark. And you won't have to walk far. The organization announced yesterday it bought a two-building Downtown Crossing property and plans to turn the bottom floors into a new 35,000-square-foot cultural hub. Good Morning Boston, By now, you probably know the sonic boom heard 'round the region on Saturday was, in fact,  a meteor exploding in our atmosphere . According to the American Meteor Society, it was only three feet wide. But it managed to make such a commotion because when a meteor "encounters all this air, this friction, and that heats it up and it vaporizes it as it enters through the atmosphere... it basically can't stand the stress and it explodes," Richard Binzel, a planetary science professor at MIT, explained to WBUR's Paul Connearney.
