On Tuesday, MAGA Republicans in the U.S. Senate proposed legislation that would funnel a billion dollars from American taxpayers into Donald Trump’s vanity ballroom.* Just a few points (among many we could make): The ballroom is unlawful. First, the East Wing of the White House was illegally demolished to make room for the ballroom. Second, construction of the ballroom was begun without the required authorization. It is also absurdly oversized. At a planned 90,000 square feet, the ballroom would be big enough for a regulation NFL football field. Plus an NHL ice rink. Plus three NBA/WNBA basketball courts. With room to spare...
