  Support our nonprofit journalism   Republicans can wring their hands all they want. But the unequivocal truth is that the "No Kings" protests that rang out across the country this weekend were  overwhelmingly peaceful, even wholesome . There were  inflatables  and  American flags . Joyful signs and  animal costumes . Still, Republicans, as of Monday morning, are hellbent on portraying protesters as vicious, American-hating monsters. That is not surprising, of course. But I have to say that  I laughed out loud, downright cracked up   at what House Speaker Mike Johnson had to say about the president posting a feces-dumping message for his detractors.  You can watch  Johnson's remarks here , and, for a brief moment, in our hellscape timeline, enjoy the fact that a top Republican is out here talking about poop-dumping like it's high art.
