I wanted to take a moment today to share my immigration story with you and how it led me to this very moment — fighting to defend our district, Virginia, and our country from MAGA authoritarianism. My twin brother Alex and I were born in Soviet-led Ukraine to a Jewish family during the height of the Cold War. We lived under an oppressive regime — no free speech, rampant corruption, constant propaganda, and brutal authoritarianism. My father made the courageous choice to flee that life and seek a better one for our family.
