Donald Trump spent $5 million in taxpayer money to regild four bronze horse statues near the Lincoln Memorial with 23.75-karat gold leaf. As a reminder, it’s been barely a year since he passed his “One Big Beautiful Bill” that included the largest cut to health care in American history, the largest cut to food assistance in American history, and the largest transfer of wealth to the rich in American history. Millions have already been kicked off their health care and food assistance, and millions more are expected to. It’s remarkable then that Trump is using taxpayer money to gild horse statues, ...

  This week, Senate Republicans have brought up the SAVE America Act for votes. The SAVE America Act will block millions of Americans from voting who can legally vote. Millions of service members around the world, seniors who have been voting legally for decades, and women who changed their name when they got married won’t be able to vote. We should be making it easier for people to vote, not harder. And let’s be clear on what this is really about: President Trump sees that his approval ratings are plummeting because of his terrible policies, and he wants to tip the scales ahead of the midterm elections this year. Voting is a fundamental right in this country.
