Donald Trump spent $5 million in taxpayer money to regild four bronze horse statues near the Lincoln Memorial with 23.75-karat gold leaf.

As a reminder, it’s been barely a year since he passed his “One Big Beautiful Bill” that included the largest cut to health care in American history, the largest cut to food assistance in American history, and the largest transfer of wealth to the rich in American history. Millions have already been kicked off their health care and food assistance, and millions more are expected to.

It’s remarkable then that Trump is using taxpayer money to gild horse statues, tint the reflecting pool, and demolish the White House East Wing while at the same time taking away services that people rely on.

It’s a clear example of differing priorities. Trump is worried about himself and his billionaire friends. Democrats care about families who work hard every day and still struggle to make ends meet.

It’s why we must flip Congress blue this November.
