The Moment to Act Is Now

  My grandfather was born in Hungary. I (Max) have relatives who survived the Nazi invasion, lived in Hungary after World War II, and then decided to flee to Australia when the Soviets invaded in 1956. So, I feel a connection to the country, and reveled in the  ousting of the authoritarian leader, Viktor Orbán , on Sunday. It should give us hope for seizing our country back from the authoritarian tactics being imposed here.    This is why we need every member and local to find a way to participate in May Day, which marks International Workers’ Day and is the next gathering time for labor and the forces that defend our democracy to demand what we need for our schools and colleges.    Start by signing up for the  All Member Zoom Meeting this Thursday, at 7 p.m.  And look at our  toolkit  for ideas about how to have your local participate.   We are asking every local to have a plan — plan a walk-in before school or a walk-out at the en...
