  This is giving us hope. In the November election in Virginia,   turnout among voters under 30 increased by more than 50% compared to 2021. And the results were huge. Democrats in Virginia won the governorship, the lieutenant governorship, held and expanded their majority in the House of Delegates, and won the Attorney General race. That means Democrats now have the power to shape what happens next, from redistricting decisions to abortion rights protections for Virginians. Young people helped make this happen. They showed up, they organized,  and  they proved that when young voters turn out, we can get the results we’ve been fighting for. Young people aren’t just any other demographic in our politics anymore.   This year, Gen Z and Millennials will make up roughly  half  of eligible voters in the country.   They are living with the highest costs, the most uncertainty, and a political system that too often does  not  deliver.
