  Friends, In just a minute, I’m going to ask if you can pitch in $10 to help our campaign reach our end-of-month fundraising deadline. But first, I want to tell you a little more about our race — and why your support is so important, especially right now. I’m running in a  brand new district:  NC-14. Here’s what it looks like: The district covers Mecklenburg and Gaston. I’ve represented all of the Mecklenburg portion over eight years in the state Senate, and before that, I was an assistant district attorney in Gaston for several years. Politically, these are very different counties — one red, one blue — but there are policy intersections that concern them both. Now, I’m personally knocking 1,000 doors across the district and hearing directly from voters. The same issues keep coming up: Reproductive freedom. Our state’s teacher shortage. Affordable housing.
