  When I was 12 years old, my mom was driving a friend and me to a game when we got pulled over.   My mom is the safest driver I know. Still is. The kind of person who goes the speed limit, keeps both hands on the wheel, and never takes risks. But when the officer approached the car, he was loud. Aggressive. It didn’t make sense.   The officer told her to get out and made her stand in front of the car while I sat there in the backseat, scared and confused.    And then he let her go. No ticket, no warning — nothing.  Just fear.   That moment stuck with me. You understand that power can be used in ways that leave families shaken for no reason at all.
