Friends, it’s Ed. I have some personal thoughts that I want to share with you today. I hope you’ll read to the end. Donald Trump and the Republicans' victory on election night last year was an obvious disaster for our nation. But what really made that night such a great disappointment for me was seeing Democrats lose a good deal of support from working-class Americans. For decades, Democrats have been the party of the workers. We’re the party of FDR’s New Deal and LBJ’s Great Society. We created and passed Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, national union rights, worker protections, and much more. We’ve helped create millions of good-paying jobs. We’ve built roads, bridges, railways, dams, power stations, and more all across the country. We’ve stood up to the mega-corporations that make Americans work longer hours for lower wages.
