BIG WIN IN COURT: 56,000 new voters in this swing state

Image
We fund voter protection This is HUGE news: Thanks to a recent appeals court ruling, North Carolina now has tens of thousands of new possible voters. The court expanded the scope of those able to register and vote to include  56,000 people  serving punishments for felony convictions, but who aren’t behind bars. In a state like North Carolina, experts say that influx of voters could make a huge difference. And with a major Senate election coming up in this swing state this year,  that could just influence the tone of our national politics . Democrats hold only the slimmest of majorities in the Senate right now, so we’ve got to fight for every single seat. A win for voting rights like this one is good news for anyone who’s pro-democracy … which means it’s bad news for Republicans. Power the Vote needs your help to fund voter protection staff in North Carolina – who will fight to make sure every single one of these voters has the opportunity to make their voice heard....

We’re running out of time before November

Image
We fund voter protection It might not seem like it, but November is quickly approaching … which means we’re running out of time to raise the resources we need for the midterm elections. We need to go full throttle on our voter protection programs — we have to ensure every single voter can make their voice heard fairly and freely. So today, we’re setting a goal of raising $10,000 by the end of the month — that’s 11:59pm on August 31. Listen:  We only have about 10 weeks between now and November 8. With so little time, we can’t afford to miss even one fundraising goal — if we don’t meet our August goal, we’ll have to start to pull back on our voter protection programs at the worst possible moment. Please, help us defend voting rights this year — this issue has never been more important than it is right now. Chip in any amount to help us reach $10,000 by midnight on Tuesday. Thank you, Power the Vote   We Fund Voter Protection In 2020, we ran the Democratic Party’s Voter P...

SCOTUS sided with Black voters on this →

We fund voter protection CNN Politics: Supreme Court issues rare emergency order favoring voters challenging elections rules Nico Martinez, a partner at Bartlit Beck LLP who represented the challengers, said the Supreme Court's order was an "important step toward ensuring that this November's PSC elections are not held using a method that unlawfully dilutes the votes of millions of Black citizens in Georgia." Donate to continue defending voting rights → In a time when our voting rights are under attack from nearly every direction, the Supreme Court should be on the side of voting rights. We know that isn’t always the case, but we’re glad to see the Supreme Court siding with voters here. But even though this case turned out favorably, we know we can’t take anything for granted.  We’re still facing an ultra-conservative Supreme Court, so their next ruling might not be so positive. That’s why Power the Vote needs your help. We’re working hard every single day to protec...

we have the momentum

We fund voter protection Earlier this month, voters in Kansas sent a message to the entire country when they voted overwhelmingly to keep abortion legal in their state. And now, there’s this: This much is clear:  We have all the momentum going into November. Voters are fired up, and they’re ready to hold their leaders accountable. But there’s still more work to do. Here’s why: It’s not enough for women to register and turn out to vote. If they encounter a long line at the polls, or they face voter harassment or intimidation, they may be turned away. That’s why we also have to ensure that women are able to cast their ballots, and that those votes are counted That’s where our work comes in. Power the Vote is working tirelessly to ensure every voter can vote, every vote is counted, and every election win is certified. We’re doing that by funding voter protection staff in battleground states, who are fighting for voters. But we can’t do it alone. We’re relying on grassroots cont...
