Photo by Sandy Quadros Bowles MIDDLEBORO – A Middleboro woman has pleaded guilty in Wareham District Court to charges that she allegedly neglected 26 animals at her Middleboro home for months during 2024, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced. Kimberly Savino, 44, pleaded guilty to 26 charges of Animal Cruelty spanning two separate, but related, criminal cases.  In one of the cases, she was sentenced to a one-year suspended sentence in the Massachusetts Department of Corrections and placed on three years of probation. In the second case, Savino was sentenced to an additional three years of probation spanning from and after the first three-year stint on probation and is slated to end in 2032.  The Commonwealth also requested Savino serve two and a half years of incarceration in the Department of Correction...

The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office, which is conducting the death investigation along with Massachusetts State Police and Middleborough Police, said there was a 911 call around 4:27 p.m. for a neighbor dispute at 21 School Street. Police arrived to the multi-family home and found a 68-year-old male who was unresponsive. He was taken to Morton Hospital in Taunton where he was was pronounced dead, officials said. MIDDLEBORO — The Middleboro Fire Department responded to a deadly structure fire at an apartment complex at 172 Ashley Lane on Sunday morning. One adult was pronounced dead at the scene, while two residents and a firefighter were transported to area hospitals for what are believed to be  non-life-threatening injuries Dec. 7.  According to the department, there was heavy smoke and flames coming from the first and second floors of a condo building when crews arrived on site.  The fire also extended to two adjacent buildings, according to the department, which included four units.
