68-year-old man dead after reported neighbor dispute in Middleborough

Officials said in a related incident at 21 School Street, a man was arrested and charged with assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.




An investigation is underway in Middleborough, Massachusetts, after a 68-year-old man died following a reported neighbor dispute Wednesday evening.

The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office, which is conducting the death investigation along with Massachusetts State Police and Middleborough Police, said there was a 911 call around 4:27 p.m. for a neighbor dispute at 21 School Street.

Police arrived to the multi-family home and found a 68-year-old male who was unresponsive. He was taken to Morton Hospital in Taunton where he was was pronounced dead, officials said.

In a related incident at the same address, according to the DA's office, a man was arrested and charged with assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest. It's unclear if he'll face any charges connected to the man's death.

Officials haven't said what the dispute was about, or how the victim died. An autopsy will be conducted by the chief medical examiner's office to determine the cause and manner of his death.

No names have been released at this time. Police say this appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public.

An investigation is ongoing.
