  Earlier this week, billionaire David Ellison took ownership of TikTok with the blessing of the White House. Ellison is a budding mogul whose company, Skydance , also just took over CBS News , where he installed pro-Trump figures in leadership positions. These leaders killed a 60 Minutes story that outlined detainee abuses in a deportation facility. Since Ellison took over TikTok , progressives have reported that certain words -- including “Epstein” -- appear to be blocked, and that view counts have plunged for pro-Palestinian or anti-ICE voices. At the same time, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos announced a tidal wave of layoffs at the Washington Post on the heels of Amazon spending $75 million to release a fluffy documentary about Melania Trump. TikTok claimed that its outage was due to a data center going offline during this weekend’s snowstorm. I don’t know if that’s true.
