Addressing the President’s Threat
Dear Friends, I wanted to write to you about the deeply disturbing post made on social media this morning by President Trump, threatening the people of Iran by saying “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.” This is a pivotal, dangerous moment for our country. Let me tell you what I’m doing to address the rantings of our president and stop this war from escalating in the Middle East. The first step I am taking is calling on Republicans to call Congress back into session. We have a job to do, and it is simply unacceptable for Republicans to keep us on a two-week recess while the President of the United States considers sending ground troops into Iran and threatens to commit war crimes against an entire nation of people. Congress’ role in authorizing any military action cannot be ignored any longer. Republicans need to grow a backbone, and bring us back to Washington immediately.
