The ACLU of Texas surveyed more than a thousand people living on the border — in El Paso and the Rio Grande Valley, some of the most heavily policed communities in the country. The headline finding: 63% say ICE has gone too far. And this isn't coming from one side. It includes people with a family member who works for a federal immigration agency. It's coming from counties Donald Trump won in 2024. More than half said the enforcement surge has made their lives harder without making them any safer. But the number that matters most for what we do is this one: residents told pollsters they're now afraid to do ordinary things — go to church, take their kids to school, even report a crime to the police. Nearly two in three see agents in their neighborhoods every week. If fear is already keeping people home from church and school, what do you think it does when it's time to vote? That is exactly the fear Operation: Vote Safe exists to overcome with trained, trusted people on the ground in these communities, making sure no one is frightened out of casting a ballot they have every right to cast. This is the most important work we will do between now and the election. Will you chip in $25 today to fund Operation: Vote Safe? The people living closest to this are telling us how bad it is. Let's make sure it doesn't decide the election. With determination, Steve Schmidt Save America Movement
