Access to affordable health care polls sky high across people of all political parties in every state—and has long been a priority for our nation. But the $1 trillion health care cut made in the budget bill passed this summer will rip coverage from 15 million Americans and close over 300 hospitals, especially in rural areas. In addition, allowing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits to expire will put 24 million people at risk of health premiums soaring on average by 75%—and at risk of a 90% increase in many rural areas! Moreover, President Trump is ending legal status for millions of immigrants, who comprise 24% of the health care support workforce.

Last weekend the Administration announced the firing of hundreds of Department of Education federal staff who provide critical educational access support for children with disabilities. This means fewer protections when students with disabilities face exclusion, harassment, discriminatory discipline, and barriers to access and inclusion in education. These employees were responsible for administering funding and overseeing the implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) which serves more than 8 million children nationwide.
