In general, what we have here is the free states subsidizing the states of the neo-Confederacy -- which, however, never stop yammering about "states' rights." It's also worth noting that many military bases are located in the neo-Confederate states, giving them a boost economically.

Those states have never stopped fighting the CIVIL WAR & carry those policies of HATE & RACISM forward to their detriment that they continue to fight.

We were recently in a building that had a "ONE SIZE FITS ALL" BATHROOM - closed stall, urinal & diaper changing table - SINGLE OCCUPANCY - with an automatic door accesible for handicapped. 

By denying access to the INTERNET, CABLE STATIONS, PBS/NPR or public libraries & limiting information to propaganda outlets like SINCLAIR or FOX NEWS = FAKE NEWS LIARS, ignorance is perpetuated.

Too many of these FELLOW AMERICANS signed credit applications with an

A friend was sent to a RED STATE to teach CALCULUS to high school seniors. On her way into town, she was shocked to see a billboard that said FREE PAP SMEARS WOMEN ONLY!

When she met her HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS, she discovered that they were unable to do simple ARITHMETIC - ADDITION, SUBTRACTION, MULTIPLICATION & DIVISION.

FUNCTIONAL ILLITERACY!

You can't function without that basic level of ARITHMETIC!

So when some MAGA BOOB proposes TEN COMMANDMENTS in classrooms....HUH? My BLOOD PRESSURE BOILS!

We're not considering any controversial issue like evolution - we're just talking about BASICS that you need to FUNCTION!

Recently PBS/NPR has had several programs on about teaching MATH.

When you get beyond the BASICS like NEGATIVE NUMBERS, yes the concepts require creative explanations sometimes, but in this case, we're talking about BASICS - simple stuff.

Although I took calculus & have employed it several times in my life, it is clearly not as life altering as lacking BASIC MATH.

Maybe that was the course I took with engineering students who flunked at other universities & looked at me in bewilderment when I made comments about a SLIDE RULE, Sine, Cosine & tangent - they're gonna build the next bridge!
