Here’s the math: Democrats need a net gain to retake the Senate majority. There are only a handful of true pickup opportunities in the entire country this cycle, and this poll shows that Iowa is one of them.
Trump carried the state by double digits in 2024, but now, Wahls has narrowed that lead to 2. That’s why this race matters so much.
As someone who has spent a lot of time campaigning in Iowa, I know Zach has what it takes to win. Zach isn’t some placeholder candidate. He’s a 6th-generation Iowan who has spent his career standing up for working families and taking on powerful interests. He’s built real grassroots support without taking a cent from corporate PACs.
And now he’s within 2 points.
But here’s what I’ve learned over decades in politics: when a Democrat gets this close in a red-leaning state, national Republicans don’t sit back. They flood the zone with money and try to shut it down early.
If Zach has the resources to define this race, expand outreach, and reach persuadable voters before outside money drowns him out, he can win. If he doesn’t, Republicans will try to bury this opportunity before it fully takes shape.
