"Two ways of calculating": Trump defends his mathematically impossible calculations on drug prices

Ah, yes. Two ways of calculating! One the one hand we have mathematics, the unshakeable field of study that has been around for millennia — including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and beyond — upon which empirical science is based, and on the other hand we have...whatever the hell Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Donald Trump are prattling on about.

Why trust that which is demonstrably true and easily proven with the calculator on your phone when you can listen to a guy who cut the penis off a dead raccoon and his dementia-addled boss talk about alternative math that "people understand better?"

"Either way, it doesn't make any difference," Donald declared, which is exactly what a privileged nincompoop who's never once been held accountable for being wrong about anything in his life would say.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Ousted AG Pam Bondi hit with very bad news in subpoena standoff

The ranking Democratic member on the House Oversight Committee, Robert Garcia, threatened imminent contempt charges against former Attorney General Pam Bondi for defying a congressional subpoena and ignoring the law she previously swore to uphold.

Turns out sticking your fingers in your ears and screaming, "La la la la la la la!" isn't an acceptable response when Congress comes calling for testimony with the weight of the US Constitution in its corner.

Conservation Law Foundation takes the fight to Donald Trump and the fossil fuel industry

Conservation Law Foundation: The real battle for our planet, for our environment, and for our public health takes place in the courtroom. Stopping Trump from ruining our clean air, our clean water, and all the progress we’ve made hinges on Conservation Law Foundation's legal team winning big fights behind the scenes — like their 14 MAJOR lawsuits currently underway against the Trump administration. But they don’t have the war chest that Big Oil does. This Earth Month, will you chip in to support Conservation Law Foundation and help them in their mission to protect the environment and stop Trump’s attacks on our climate?

House Republican proposes just giving Northern Virginia back to DC after redistricting vote
Fresh off a brutal defeat Tuesday night where Virginians voted in favor of new congressional maps that will almost certainly net Democrats four additional seats in the US House, Republicans introduced the "Make DC Square Again Act," a "retro-retrocession" measure that would effectively re-annex Northern Virginia and its several million residents back into the District of Columbia, ostensibly turning whatever would be left of Virginia red again. Georgia Rep. Rich McCormick hastily introduced the measure yesterday, presumably with the world's tallest glass of tears in hand, because the only thing Republicans are actually worse at than governing is losing.

The bill doesn't stand a chance of passing, of course, but if it did, it would almost certainly spell economic disaster for the rural swath of downstate Virginia, which relies on the outsized economic might of Northern Virginia to keep the lights on and the bills paid.

US special forces soldier arrested after Trump’s DOJ says he won $400,000 betting on Maduro raid
In yet another ominous sign the End Times may very well be upon us, we now have American soldiers BETTING ON WHICH GOVERNMENTS THE UNITED STATES WILL TOPPLE NEXT. Federal agents have arrested US Army Special Forces soldier Gannon Ken Van Dyke, who took part in the deadly operation to kidnap and extradite Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, after he allegedly won more than $400,000 from Polymarket bets on the audacious capture.

"Our men and women in uniform are trusted with classified information in order to accomplish their mission as safely and effectively as possible, and are prohibited from using this highly sensitive information for personal financial gain," Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement, ostensibly with a straight face.

Donald Trump chimed in, too, adding, "The whole world, unfortunately, has become somewhat of a casino. I don't like it conceptually, but it is what it is."

Hoo boy, where to begin? The man who amassed (and repeatedly lost) a sizeable fortune building casinos across the country AND who's spent a lifetime gambling with one questionable venture or another laments the world becoming "somewhat of a casino." But wait, there's always more! His own son, Donald Jr., is a principal investor AND adviser to Polymarket, the very platform Van Dyke used to place his Maduro bets. Furthermore, nearly ONE BILLION DOLLARS has been wagered on US military actions in Iran on Polymarket to date. And we're supposed to just believe no one with insider knowledge in the Trump administration or the president's extended family isn't getting in on the action? Got it.

Trump ousted Navy secretary because he wasn't building his new battleships fast enough

America's vainglorious imbecile-in-chief fired the secretary of the Navy — during an ongoing war with Iran AND naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz — because he just wasn't building Donnie's silly new battleships fast enough. Seriously. It's like our country is being run by a real-life Veruca Salt.

"Most corrupt first family of all time": Lawmakers torch Eric Trump over Pentagon sweetheart deal
The Pentagon just gifted a robotics startup $24 million government contract to test humanoid robots, and wouldn't you know it, Eric Trump, of all people, is the company's chief strategy adviser. Eric's "chief strategy" appears to be using daddy's family name to bilk American taxpayers, then going on Fox News to brag about it. Congressional Democrats were not impressed. Sen. Elizabeth Warren asked, "Is the Pentagon just a cash machine for Trump’s kids now?" (Yes!) Rep. Ilhan Omar was even more blunt, declaring, "You can't make this stuff up. The most corrupt first family of all time." (Also yes!)

Trump says 2020 election should be "wiped from the books" as his DOJ goes after Southern Poverty Law Center in wild new fraud lawsuit
America’s imbecile-in-chief, posting at the very normal time of 1 AM on Truth Social, has laughably declared that if DOJ fraud charges against the Southern Poverty Law Center — a civil rights organization — prove true, the entire 2020 election should be "permanently wiped from the books," a leap so staggering it would turn Superman's head.

According to Trump, if any Democrat-adjacent organization ever did anything wrong in the past decade, the only remedy would be to retroactively hand him a presidency he lost six years ago by seven million votes — which is less a theory of justice and more like the world's most pathetic participation trophy presentation.

And not for nothing, Donnie, but maybe you wouldn't doze off in the middle of important Oval Office meetings if you'd put the damn phone down and go to bed at a reasonable hour.

"I think we just buy it": Trump suggests government will purchase struggling Spirit Airlines and then "sell it for a profit" down the road
Shhhhh. It's only socialism when the other side does it. Nationalizing a multibillion-dollar airline that employs 11,000 people is just good business when Donnie does it.

Republican congresswoman calls on Trump to pardon soldier indicted for allegedly betting on Maduro's ouster
PARDONING ANOTHER CRIMINAL?

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) called on President Donald Trump to pardon the U.S. soldier indicted for allegedly betting on the ouster of former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

Master Sgt. Gannon Ken Van Dyke was directly involved in the operation that captured Maduro and his wife, a Manhattan federal court alleged in an indictment on Thursday. Van Dyke allegedly placed $33,000 worth of bets that the Venezuelan leader would be removed as president on Polymarket, betting a series of times up to the day Maduro was captured.
TIME TO DUMP THESE MAGA MAGGOTS WHO ENDORSE CRIMINAL CONDUCT beginning with BRAIN DEAD ANNA PAULINA LUNA (R-FL) !

The indictment claims that Van Dyke placed thirteen bets on multiple events related to Maduro, including “bets on the timing and outcome” of the operation to remove him. The plays allegedly made him over $409,000, sparking an investigation into the suspiciously timed bets. Van Dyke attempted to hide his winnings through cryptocurrency and a brokerage account, going so far as to delete his Polymarket account by claiming he had lost access to the email the account was under.

Trump commented on the indictment Thursday, after being asked by press in the Oval Office if he was concerned about its implications for federal employees.

“Well, you know, the whole world, unfortunately, has become somewhat of a casino. And you look at what’s going on all over the world, in Europe, and every place, they’re doing these betting things. I was never much in favor of it. I don’t like it, conceptually,” he said. “But it is what it is. No, I think that I’m not happy with any of that stuff, but they have all these different sites. They have predictive markets. It’s a crazy world. It’s a much different world than it was.”

Luna urged the president to grant clemency to Van Dyke, posting on X that the indictment represented “skewed justice.”

“Maybe not a popular take but I am calling for this guy to be pardoned. Unless the DOJ plans on going after all the crooks in congress currently insider trading, this is simply skewed justice,” she wrote. “There is no ‘justice’ when guys like this get the book thrown at him yet members are illegally profiting every day. I don’t agree with what he did and he should be required to disgorge all the profits however, unless the DOJ plans on doing Congress next, this is not justice.”

DUMP THIS MAGA BOOB AS WELL!

Rep. Jimmy Patronis (R-FL) agreed with his colleague, calling the move “selective enforcement” and reiterating Luna’s push for regulation on congressional stock trading.

“I think this guy should be pardoned. If the DOJ isn’t prepared to go after every member of Congress who’s profiting off insider trading, then this feels like selective enforcement, not justice,” he wrote. “I don’t support what he did, and he should absolutely have to give back every dollar he made. But holding one person accountable while others get a pass undermines the idea of equal justice under the law. @POTUS should make this decision at his discretion not the DOJ.”

And in other news

Hope...
