Decades of racism. Birther lies. Fake arrest videos. Trump screaming treason from the White House. Republicans have spent more than 20 years trying to break Barack Obama. None of it worked. This week the former president sat down for interview after interview and just laughed. “You can feel free to pick on me, because I’m your own size.” When young Americans told him they are losing hope, he put it in perspective: “Civil War—really bad. Jim Crow—tough. Our parents and grandparents went through stuff profoundly tougher than what we’re going through. I say that not to pull rank but to pull them out of any kind of hopelessness.” On Trump, who threatens to wipe out entire countries and uses the DOJ as a weapon against his enemies, Obama drew the line: “American leadership has to reflect a basic regard for human dignity and decency. If we don’t have those things, the world can break in very bad ways.” Republicans tried to destroy him—but he’s still laughing, still standing, still here. So are we. So are you. And that is everything. REPORTER STANDS TALL AGAINST THE REGIME
Hannah Natanson is the hero in this story. Before dawn one morning in January, FBI agents pounded on the door of her Virginia home and seized every electronic device she owned—phones, laptops, a hard drive, even her watch. They told her it was part of their investigation into alleged leaks within the regime, and that she was not the target. Then that same day, Pam Bondi and Kash Patel went on television and called Natanson the leaker anyway. The whole raid was illegal—a 1980 federal law explicitly bans the FBI from raiding journalists’ homes, and the government hid that law from the judge who signed the warrant. When the judge found out, he was furious, and ordered the FBI not to touch any of the seized materials and called it “the equivalent of leaving the government’s fox in charge of The Washington Post’s henhouse.” When the regime appealed, a second judge slapped them down again—upholding the order and writing that seizing a reporter’s devices is exactly the kind of thing that scares every journalist in America into silence. Natanson went back to work the same day they ransacked her home. She refused to back down. This week, The Washington Post won the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service—and Hannah Natanson’s reporting was at the heart of it. FULTON COUNTY SAYS NO
The biggest county in Georgia just told Trump’s DOJ no. The regime secretly demanded Fulton County hand over the names, home addresses, emails, and phone numbers of every poll worker and volunteer who staffed the 2020 election there. Fulton County refused—filing a 27-page legal motion to block the demand—calling it exactly what it is: a list designed to terrorize people for the “crime” of working a legal election. The deadline to charge anyone for 2020 crimes has already passed. They just want the names—and we have a pretty good idea what they would do with them. THIS IS THE CASE THE RUDY GHOULiani promoted and terrorized these people with his LIES! After the 2020 election, Trump supporters targeted poll worker and grandmother Ruby Freeman—who did nothing wrong. Strangers showed up at her door and she was forced to flee her own home. But Fulton County is holding the line. They haven’t handed over a single name to the regime. They don’t intend to. A firefighter and Marine Veteran named Chedrick Greene defeated Republican Jason Tunney in Michigan’s special election for state Senate on Tuesday night. His win keeps Democrats in control of the chamber. It’s a district where former VP Kamala Harris beat Trump by just one point in 2024—Greene won by more than 19. That’s not just a win, it’s a statement. The district covers Saginaw and Bay City, the kind of communities where union workers and rural conservatives live side by side. Where results have predicted the winning presidential candidate five elections in a row. When the district speaks, the whole country usually follows. John Hall, a 69-year-old independent voter, drove to the polls right after spending $58 at the gas station—up from $35 just two months ago. He voted for the Democrat. Greene’s victory is the latest in a string that now stands at 266 out of 297 Democratic wins or overperformances in key elections since Trump took office. November is coming. But the resistance isn’t just waiting. It’s fighting—in courtrooms, in newsrooms, and in the streets, every single day. Here’s the deal. Yes, I miss former President Obama and former president Biden both. Biden may have seemed wishy-washy on some things and I didn’t always agree with him. But what I loved about both of these men was that they were both gentlemen, respective of people, and their willingness to listen to the voters. I miss that more than anything! Additionally, they put in the time and did the work!!!!! Hmm...An interesting idea, doing the work! Sounds good!! AND NOW WE HAVE tRUMP, A MAN WITH TWO BIG MOUTHS AND NO EARS. Even though I might not agree with a specific action, I never had any doubt about their MOTIVES. On the other hand, I think Trump can be summarized by the chorus to that Meghan Trainor song "Lips are Movin": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDc_5zpBj7s ⬆️ I know you're lyin' - your lips are movin'
I wonder if Obama can sue Truth Social for defamation? DEFAMING PUBLIC FIGURES is questionable at best. The OBAMAS have always stayed CLASSY! What would be gained by suing DEMENTIA DON? Trump has proven his STUPIDITY endlessly - claimed brilliance, but failed at multiple businesses and claims he reduced DRUG prices 600%! How STUPID do you have to believe that is REALITY? BRAIN WORM RFK JR defended that arithmetic stupidity. EVERYTHING TRUMP DOES IS A SCAM! Trump Rx SCAM! From OPEN SECRETS: Trump Rx offers brand-name drug discounts indexed to lower international prices. In exchange for offering these most favored nation rates to cash-paying customers, the administration granted participating drugmakers multi-year exemptions from new import tariffs. And in Florida…🤸🏻🤸🏻 The Department of Homeland Security has concluded the detention center in the Everglades is too expensive to keep operating Florida is in talks with the Trump administration to shut down a high-profile immigration detention center that opened last summer in the Everglades and has cost the state hundreds of millions of dollars to operate, according to a federal official, a former Immigration and Customs Enforcement official, and a person close to the administration of Gov. Ron DeSantis. The shutdown talks are preliminary, the people said. But officials at the Department of Homeland Security have concluded that it is too expensive to keep operating the center, known as Alligator Alcatraz. Homeland Security officials have also come to consider the center ineffective, the federal official said. All three people spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal talks. The DeSantis administration has been spending more than $1 million a day to run the center, which is in a swampy, isolated area between Miami and Naples. Some private vendors hired by the state to operate it have been struggling to front costs, according to the person close to the DeSantis administration. The Department of Homeland Security did not respond to a request for comment. Neither did the Florida Division of Emergency Management, which operates the center, nor DeSantis’ office. DeSantis, a Republican, has repeatedly called the Everglades detention center a success, saying it has helped the Trump administration by providing more beds to house federal detainees. He has also said that the facility was intended to be temporary. But the center’s shutdown would be hailed by immigration lawyers, activists and many detainees and their families as a huge win. Critics have denounced what they describe as unsanitary and inhumane conditions at the center since it opened 10 months ago; state officials have consistently dismissed such descriptions as false. As of last month, the center held nearly 1,400 detainees, all of them men, according to ICE data. The agency classified about two-thirds of the detainees in the center, which it calls the Florida Soft-Sided Facility South, as noncriminal. DeSantis has said from the start that the federal government would pay back the state for operating the center. But Florida has yet to receive the $608 million federal reimbursement it requested to run the center for about a year. The money was held up in part by the partial shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security that ended last Thursday. It is unclear why the reimbursement continues to be delayed. The center became the nation’s first state-run facility to hold federal immigration detainees last July, as Florida pushed the boundaries of aggressive enforcement under President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown. Its remote location and brazen name gained it international notoriety before any detainees arrived. At the time, Trump and Kristi Noem, then the homeland security secretary, toured the center with DeSantis and Florida’s attorney general, James Uthmeier. Other states later opened immigrant detention centers of their own, though the one in the Everglades stood out as particularly unforgiving given that the site essentially consisted of tents. Uthmeier, a Republican and DeSantis’ former chief of staff, had pushed to build the center at an old training airport, despite the lack of existing infrastructure. Both men argued that it was crucial for the center to be in a remote location, saying that the inhospitable conditions would prompt immigrants to think twice about staying in the United States illegally and risking arrest. But the location made it much more expensive to build and run. Vendors had to truck in things like tents, power generators and trailers for staff members to live in. They also had to constantly truck out sewage and other waste. A lawyer for two detainees said in a federal court filing last month that guards beat and pepper-sprayed the men after detainees protested that their access to a phone inside the center had been cut off. As part of the sworn declaration, the lawyer submitted a photo of one of the detainees with a black eye. Also last month, a federal appeals court upheld an earlier decision to block a lower court’s order that the center dismantle operations because it had not conducted an environmental review required under federal law. A panel from the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found that the center was not under federal control, and thus was not subject to the environmental review. A landing strip allows flights to arrive at and take off from the Everglades center, though it is unclear how frequently detainees have been moved in or out. At least some of the center’s detainees have been flown to larger federal detention centers in Louisiana and Texas, often as a final stop before they are deported.
