North Carolina's most esteemed mouth-breathers in the state legislature have introduced a super normal and in no way deeply disturbing new bill that would make it MURDER to "harm" a fertilized human egg. If passed, Republicans' latest attempt to legislate humanity back to a pre-scientific age would grant personhood to fertilized eggs — even before the egg has implanted in the uterus. Thus, a woman "caught" using an IUD could literally be charged with homicide.

But wait, there's always more. The bill does not offer any protection for someone suffering from an ectopic pregnancy, which, ya know, is non-viable for the fetus and almost always fatal for the woman.

Blood boiling yet? Don't worry, it gets worse. The bill also states that "[a]ny person has the right to defend his or her own life or the life of another person, even by the use of deadly force if necessary, from willful destruction by another person," giving abusive partners the green light to murder women for something as simple as using an IUD.

Every time we think they've hit the absolute bottom, Republicans find a way to go even lower.
