$350,000 in dark money attack ads just entered the chat
Last week, we got word that Diana DeGette was openly signaling for super PACs to enter this race and run attack ads against me.
Well, today we found out one of them answered.
This super PAC didn't exist a month ago. There is virtually no public information about its donors, no way for voters to know whose interests are behind these attacks, and zero accountability for the people writing the checks.
And that's exactly how dark money is supposed to work.
It could be the pharmaceutical companies and insurance lobbyists who have spent years investing in Diana to protect their profits. Or it could be AIPAC, disguising their influence by funneling money through yet another shell PAC, as they’ve done multiple times over the last several years. It could be the weapons manufacturers like Lockheed Martin, who donated thousands to Diana earlier this year and are invested in our country continuing to pursue wars forever.
Maybe it's another special interest entirely! We genuinely don't know.
But what we do know is that Diana DeGette spent last week sending a very public message that she wanted outside groups to come into this race and attack my supporters and me. Now, just days later, a mystery super PAC has appeared with hundreds of thousands of dollars to do exactly that.
A politician who feels secure in her record doesn't need anonymous special interests to rescue her campaign, but that's what happens when a grassroots campaign like ours starts to become a serious threat to their power.
People are asking why Denver is represented by someone who has spent nearly thirty years in Congress while housing costs soar, health care remains unaffordable, and private equity rakes in record-breaking profits.
The people funding these ads may be able to hide their identities, but they can't hide what they're afraid of. They're afraid that Denver voters might decide they want something different.
We don't have corporate PACs or anonymous billionaires spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on our behalf. We’ve got people.
If we're going to fight back against $350,000 in dark money attacks, it's going to take thousands of ordinary people stepping up right now. Can you split a contribution between Justice Democrats and my campaign today to help us respond?
