Three Judges, One Terrible Week For The Regime

Come get the full read and join us: PAID SUBSCRIBERS—THE HOUSE IS IN REACHFor our paid subscribers. The analysis I’d give a war room, not a cable panel. Democrats need a net three seats to take the House and fire Mike Johnson—more like five to eight once you count the maps Trump rigged. Here’s why I still like our hand: every indicator that predicts a midterm is flashing red for the regime. Trump himself—the anchor dragging them down. This spring his approval hit the lowest of his entire presidency, across both terms, and he’s never been able to climb out of the hole. Among independents—the voters who decide who controls the House—he’s around thirty points underwater. Every president who carried numbers like that into the midterms lost seats. The gerrymander—he cheated and still can’t close it. Texas, Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio all redrew maps to manufacture Republican seats, and nationally the regime came out ahead. Yet even after stacking the deck that hard, the House is still a statistical coin flip. That’s not strength. That’s a party scared of its own voters. The retirements—they already know. Thirty-six House Republicans are heading for the exits—shattering the record of thirty-four retirements they set in 2018 when Democrats last flipped the House. And about four in ten of the departing Republicans aren’t running for another office. They’re just walking away. The specials—voters aren’t waiting. In state-legislative special elections this year, Democrats are running about ten points ahead of the 2024 baseline—race after race, on both red turf and blue. Not a poll. Voters are already delivering the verdict. The Bottom Line: We’ve seen this picture before: an underwater president, Democrats leading the generic ballot, special elections all breaking our way. That was the summer of 2018, right before Democrats flipped the House and gained about forty seats. Same needles, same direction now—even against a tougher map. And it’s only July. THE REGIME SUED MINNESOTA. THEY LOST.The DOJ hauled Minnesota into federal court—the state, the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Hennepin County, AG Keith Ellison, and Sheriff Dawanna Witt—trying to dismantle the laws that keep local cops from being part of the regime’s deportation machine. On Monday, they lost every count. Trump-appointed Judge Eric Tostrud threw the case out. He ruled that the Constitution flatly forbids the regime from forcing state and local officers to do federal immigration work. And he went further: ICE “detainers”—the paperwork ICE uses to make a local jail keep holding someone—are requests, not orders. Minnesota is free to say no. A JUDGE JUST FROZE THE CNN TAKEOVERThe Ellisons thought they had it in the bag: a $110 billion deal to swallow Warner Bros. and hand one billionaire family control of CBS, CNN, and two of the biggest movie studios in America. The family patriarch, Larry Ellison, is one of Trump’s biggest backers. On Monday, a federal judge told them to freeze. Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín blocked the merger cold—for now—after twelve Democratic attorneys general, led by California’s Rob Bonta, sued to stop it. Their case is simple: if allowed to go through, the deal would let two of the country’s five major film studios become one, while four companies end up controlling more than 80% of the movies that reach a theater. Bonta called the freeze “a critical first win.” And the longer it stays stuck, the more it hurts—a clause in Paramount’s own contract costs it about $650 million every quarter that passes without a done deal. No family should own this much of what America sees and hears. Twelve attorneys general are trying to make sure none ever does. A BUSH JUDGE BLOCKED TRUMP’S JOB PURGEStarting Wednesday, tens of thousands of people working here legally were set to lose their work permits—not for breaking any rule, but because the regime wrote the change into Trump’s tax law and ran out the clock. On Tuesday, US District Judge Nathaniel Gorton stopped it. He sided with the immigrant rights groups and labor unions who sued, and blocked the regime from pulling those permits. George H.W. Bush put Gorton on that bench in 1992. Trump’s own party put him there. Didn’t help. FIFTEEN HOMES ON A GOVERNMENT SALARYKen Paxton—the scandal-ridden Texas AG Trump wants in the US Senate—makes $153,750 a year. But public records tie his name to at least fifteen properties worth roughly $9 million total. Houses in Texas and Florida, a cabin in Oklahoma, land in Hawaii, and three luxury condos he bought this year at a Utah resort and moved into a blind trust—all while people are struggling to even afford their grocery bills. On Tuesday, a reporter gave Paxton a chance to explain. He refused, shut the campaign event down and walked out. He can buy fifteen homes but he can’t answer one question. November is coming. Here’s what a decade of this has taught me: The powerful lose because somebody organizes. That’s the other half of what we do here. We don’t just dig up the stories—we build the campaigns and hand you the tools to act on them. We’ve organized more than 795,000 letters and countless calls to Congress since November 2024, and we run a social operation that puts these wins in front of millions who’d never see them otherwise. Everything we do runs on readers—no corporate influence, no billionaire in control of what we say. (I did know that david and eric could have been separated at birth - they are like twins. And they both - especially david for some reason - look like proud members of the Aryan race.
Maga has ruined so many folks who had potential for good! (Musk comes to mind; hell, even dr. phil, of whom I wasn't a fan, but seemed like he wanted to help people at some point in his life.)
Thanks, Pam! I hadn't read comments before posting - I should do that more often! lol
Nah!! And more fun this way!
Your comment reminded me of the saying, "You should never meet your heroes". Many end up not being heroes, right?
You’ve got that right!
It makes me happy to find out that thousands of more immigrants still have their jobs and will not be sent away!! All of it is absolutely wonderful to read, but when you find out that our laborers get sent away because they basically came here to be able to feed their families, just eats at me to the core!!! That trend of thought is not only un- democratic but also against God’s beliefs!!!!!.
My state is going to be a fight this election but hoping more of the people who sat out last election have been woken up and aren't captured in the polling. Just glad that there are more swing states than ever before so it's not on such a small number of voters to control everything.
A Bush judge blocked Trump's job purge gave me hope that some on the other side see how unfair this Admin is, especially to immigrants.
The Judicial system, with the exception of SCROTUS has helped slow down the avarice of Drumpf and his lackeys. We owe them a lot.
"SCROTUS" - bwahahaha!!
If we don't, there's an unconstitutional and illegal reason we don't. There's no way, in a free and fair election, republicans could win. With the approval ratings so low, it's just not feasible.
Right on!! Let’s keep them running down!
If anyone hasn't heard yet, this weekend there are many planned events around the country for:
Disappeared in America: A Vigil to Demand Justice for Lorenzo and Johan (and hopefully, all of the others including Renee and Alex)
https://www.mobilize.us/disappearedinamerica/map/
I'll be attending one.
