A question I’ll never forget
SHARED FOR INFORMATION AND EDUCATION ABOUT WHAT HAS BEEN
ACCOMPLISHED BY ZOHRAN MAMDANI FOR NEW YORK CITY RESIDENTS!
Just after my 100th day in office, someone in the audience at an event hosted by local radio station WNYC asked me a question.
They asked me, “Is being Mayor worth it?”
I replied with the truth: serving as Mayor is an incredibly difficult job. But it's also unbelievably fulfilling.
For me, being your Mayor is the greatest job I could ever think of. Because when you win something, it means you can change someone's life.
Our wins aren’t hypothetical or intellectual victories, and they aren’t for some sense of self-satisfaction. Our victories mean that someone in the city can live a better tomorrow because you fought for them today.
Here's what that looks like:
- Tenants who were exploited by bad landlords have won over $34 million.
- Two-year-olds across the city now have access to free universal child care through 2-K.
- Over 165,000 potholes filled.
This is the kind of material, life-changing progress that our communities are building together. Tenants, workers, families and young people across our city are coming together to prove that when you organize you can deliver real change.
The growth of this movement of working people would not be possible without you. If you are with us, and you too believe in what we’re setting out to build together, I’m asking for your support once again.
Thank you,
Zohran
