FACT CHECK: TRUMP’S EPSTEIN TIES Yesterday, GOP Rep. James Comer, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, lied and said the Epstein “evidence we gathered does not implicate [Trump] in any way.” Let me stop you right there, James. Comer’s own committee released the now-infamous birthday letter to Epstein with Trump’s signature on it. That alone implicates Trump enough to warrant further investigation. Plus, the committee only has a small fraction of what’s in the Epstein files, so Comer’s proclamation of Trump’s innocence is nothing but ludicrous propaganda. Moving on. BIDEN RINGS THE BELL Former President Joe Biden successfully completed a round of radiation treatment, following his cancer diagnosis. When leaving Penn Medicine, Biden rang the bell. Biden’s daughter Ashley said: “Dad has been so damn brave throughout his treatment. Grateful.” And his son Hunter stated: “All I know is this: I’m more proud to be my dad’s son than anything in my life.” OBAMA ON THE TRAIL With only weeks to go until the elections in NJ and VA, former President Barack Obama will be hitting the campaign trail. On November 1st, he’ll be in New Jersey supporting Dem nominee for governor Mikie Sherrill. Obama will also be in Virginia to campaign with nominee for governor Abigail Spanberger on the same day. This should provide a major boost for both candidates just days before final votes are cast. PORTLAND MAKES MOVES The city council in Portland, Oregon, approved their “Protect Portland Initiative,” which they call a “safeguard for Portlanders targeted by the Trump administration’s aggressive federal overreach.” One thing the ordinance does is block city of Portland employees from assisting federal agencies with immigration enforcement. They also officially codified Portland as a sanctuary city. Council Vice President Tiffany Koyama Lane said: “Now is the time to model being brave rather than staying silent and hoping things will be OK.” RASKIN PUSHES HARDER At a press conference yesterday, Rep. Jamie Raskin, Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and Rep.-Elect Adelita Grijalva called out the GOP for their ongoing government shutdown. Jeffries said: “This is day 21 of the Trump-Republican shutdown, and House Republicans remain on vacation. Donald Trump is missing in action ... And Senate Republicans still don’t have a clue.” Raskin described going on the House floor to push for Adelita Grijalva to be sworn in. But Raskin said that Acting Speaker Haridopolos “turned away—he pretended he didn’t notice me. And he scurried out of the room.” This is what we’re up against—a GOP Congress full of cowards who are covering for the most corrupt regime in US history. My call to him today will reference his behavior.Of course one of his BS emails said he was all about transparency when it came to Epstein files…. I was also surprised to learn about Haridopoulos as acting speaker. He is my rep too; useless and invisible to his non MAGA constituents. But I'm going to call and give the 'acting speaker' and earful tomorrow 😉 Tearing down the east wing of the White House without any of the required permissions is a visual symbol of exactly what Trump is doing to the whole of the American government, our institutions and the constitution. I am pleased. He is doing something so visual, so in the face of anything that America stands for so that even truly patriotic Republicans can’t help but privately be repulsed by this show of grandiosity and disregard for what the White House stands for. We the people are the owners of the White House and Trump is but a temporary tenant on the premises. He's essentially treating the White House how he treats women and how he's treated all of us citizens: Like something to be used and abused without consent.
