I've spent my career making films that teach the lessons of America’s history, examining the crises – internal and external – that we have faced as a nation.

History has proven that challenges to our republic are rampant. But now, the democratic values that make up the very fabric of our nation are under assault and at risk of unraveling.

It’s never been more important to safeguard our fragile democracy – and to work together to build an even stronger country

Alaska’s Senate election is our chance to reclaim our democracy and Constitutional rights by electing someone who understands our history and envisions a better and brighter future for us all.

Mary Peltola is the leader who can meet this moment.

Mary is running to take on the entrenched interests in DC, to fight for greater affordability, and to rebuild our country.

But recent history has also made clear: Those who profit off of the broken status quo will spend record-breaking sums to defeat her.

They will use false and personal attacks to scare people because they know they win when the people are divided.

The Three Huge Lies Trump is Telling Republican Senators about his Medicaid Cuts — to finance a big tax cut mostly for the wealthy Robert Reich Jun 3 Friends, Trump is busily working the Senate this week in an effort to get his Big Ugly Bill across the finish line. Given the Republican’s close margin in the Senate, he can afford to lose only three Republican senators. But Republican senators don’t like the idea of cutting Medicaid — many of their constituents depend on it — and they’re balking at the huge deficit-busting price tag (which, of course, includes a giant tax cut mostly for the wealthy).
