JD Vance outed as anonymous source behind story Trump used to justify banning Politico

Hoo boy. JD Vance, of all people, was the "anonymous" White House source behind at least one story that Donald Trump pointed to as evidence for why Politico deserved to lose its White House access.

According to The Washington Post, the Trump administration identified six Politico stories that it claimed had "threatened national security and/or spread falsehoods" to justify stripping the outlet of its credentials. In at least one of those stories, the source was actually Donald's own vice president, and his identity was withheld and referred to as a "senior administration official" at the explicit direction of the White House.

It's almost as if Trump makes rash decisions in a petulant rage, and his lackeys scramble for rationales after the fact. Almost.

Welp, that didn't take long. US District Judge Timothy Kelly, whom Trump nominated in 2017, blocked the wannabe dictator's ban this morning and ordered the White House to restore access to CNN, MS NOW, and Politico.

Kelly wrote the news outlets are "likely to succeed" in demonstrating that the Trump administration had not given the them "adequate due process" and issued a 14-day restraining order while the court reviews the case in full.
