Breaking: Senate committee just voted to put our forests on the chopping block

A committee of U.S. senators just voted to fast-track a wave of reckless logging projects in our forests.

The so-called "Fix Our Forests" Act won't fix anything -- it could put millions of acres of forests on the chopping block. It could also threaten endangered species by completely bypassing key environmental laws like the Endangered Species Act.

We can't let this anti-forests bill pass the full U.S. Senate. A similar version of the bill has already passed in the U.S. House.

Will you donate now to help defend our forests from the misleadingly titled "Fix Our Forests" Act?

Logging won't

We must act fast to stop this major attack on our forests.

Even while the government is shut down, the U.S. Senate is working on moving bills like this one forward. Today, a committee of senators approved their version of the "Fix Our Forests" Act -- but it still needs to be voted on by the full Senate. We still have a chance to save acres of trees from reckless logging.1

This bill won't help our forests. It would roll back critical protections for endangered species and accelerate logging in our national forests.2

Environment America is calling on our U.S. senators to oppose this bill and stand up for the trees.

Donate to help us defend our trees from this anti-forests bill.

While this bill does attempt to address the threat of wildfires to communities, it also allows nearly unlimited logging. We support science-based and practical solutions to address wildfires. We don't support unchecked logging in the name of "fixing" forests.

In fact, by exempting logging projects from environmental protections, this bill could increase the risk of wildfires by cutting down fire-resistant old-growth trees and leaving behind flammable debris.3

Will you help us stop this reckless logging bill from passing? Donate today.

Thank you,

Lisa Frank
