Bad news for America’s public lands. Trump’s pick to head the U.S. Bureau of Land Management is deeply embedded in the oil industry. And his nomination is closer to approval.
We can fight back by urging the current Secretary of the Interior, Doug Burgum, to make sure our public lands are protected from being sold off to the fossil fuel industry.
Voters across the political spectrum overwhelmingly support protecting public lands. It’s one of the rare issues that actually unites people right now. But the new BLM head, Steve Pearce, could put millions of acres at risk of being opened up to drilling, mining, and worse.
Pearce has a long record in Congress of supporting proposals to sell or transfer federal public lands. He once owned an oilfield services company and continued making money from it after being elected to Congress. As head of BLM, what will he do?
If we don’t speak up now, we could lose protections that took decades to put in place.
Public pressure matters. A strong response now can help make it clear: Americans don’t want these lands sold off or handed over to industry. We want them protected — for wildlife, for clean water, and for future generations.
Take 30 seconds and send your message today!
Thanks for speaking up,
