Message View ICE crossed state lines to intimidate a poll worker. REPUBLICANS AND CORPORATE MEDIA IGNORE THIS ABUSE!
|
On a primary election day last week in Syracuse, two ICE agents with New Jersey plates walked into a polling place at the Central Library.
They came carrying a folder of printed screenshots and a copy of a poll worker's driver's license, and they demanded she delete her Instagram account. |
Back in January, Paigelynne Gonyea, posted about Jonathan Ross, the ICE agent who shot and killed Renee Good in Minneapolis. She wrote that it would be a great day for him to be indicted. Calling for someone to face charges through the legal system is protected speech, but of course, ICE didn’t care. The agents handed her an unsigned form letter citing federal statutes about threats to assault, kidnap, or murder an officer, as if asking for an indictment were the same as making a threat. So to recap: federal immigration agents traveled across state lines to enter a polling place on election day and intimidated a poll worker over a political post about ICE. That is voter intimidation and ICE abuse happening in the same breath. Election officials from both parties confirmed the visit and could not find any legitimate reason for it. A poll worker who said something this administration did not like and a pair of agents were sent to bully her. This is what you get when you hand a rogue agency the budget of a standing army and less than a month of training to go with it. Elections are happening right now and the people running this administration are pulling every dirty trick available to hold onto power. Some of those tricks look like gerrymandered maps and seized voter rolls. Some of them look like two armed agents standing in a library with your driver's license in a folder, trying to scare a poll worker into silence We are built to catch and track all of it.
