Trump’s ICE is preparing to spend up to $20 million on wearable electric-shock devices — gloves agents can put on their hands and use to hurt people at close range.
They want to use your taxpayer money to turn an agent's hand into a weapon.
The request is coming from the same agency that already operates with too much secrecy, too little accountability, and a long record of refusing to answer basic questions about how people are treated in its custody.
If Democrats flip the House, I will be in a position to chair the House Oversight Committee.
That means ICE will not get to hide from us. We will demand answers.
Who approved this contract?
Who profits from it?
What rules govern when agents can shock someone?
What happens when those rules are broken?
And why is an agency already accused of abuse being handed new tools to inflict pain before it has answered for the harm it has already caused?
ICE should not get a blank check to buy shock weapons.
