Terrible News For Trump, His Regime, and The Gun Lobby—Great News For UsVirginia just did what Congress won’tTrump has been counting on people to give up. On governors to do whatever he wants. A moment of silence, then back to their corruption. Virginia Gov. and former CIA officer Abigail Spanberger was done waiting. She just signed a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines—making her state the eleventh to pull those weapons off store shelves. Guns “designed to inflict maximum casualties,” she put it, “do not belong on our streets.” Within an hour, top Trump lawyer Harmeet Dhillon said: “See you in court.” The NRA is suing too. Bring it on—a governor with a spine beats a thousand moments of silence. NEWARK RE-ELECTS THE MAN TRUMP ARRESTEDLast year, federal agents put Newark Mayor Ras Baraka in handcuffs after he showed up to protest outside an ICE detention center. The charges were so flimsy they were dropped soon after—and Baraka sued the US Attorney’s office and the supervising DHS agent for false arrest and malicious prosecution. Trump wanted to make an example out of him. Last week, Newark voted to re-elect Baraka in a landslide. He beat seven challengers to secure a fourth term. The regime put him in handcuffs. Newark kept him in office. THE REGIME LIED. A JUDGE NOTICEDPicture this: You came to America, you played by the rules, and now you have an immigration court date where you have to fight to stay in the country. You show up, because you’re following the law, and waiting in the hallway are federal agents ready to arrest you. That’s been the regime’s strategy: turn the courthouse into a trap. The DOJ told a judge that an internal memo they drafted made it legal. Then their own lawyers admitted in court that the memo never actually said that. They had simply made it up—and the best excuse they had was calling it a typo—an “attorney error.” George W. Bush appointee Judge Kevin Castel had allowed the arrests once, trusting what the regime said in the memo. Handed the truth, he reversed himself—ruling the regime can no longer ambush people at three Manhattan immigration courts. Good. THE COUNTRY HAS SEEN ENOUGHHere’s a number Trump never wants you to see: 35%. That’s where Reuters/Ipsos has Trump’s approval today. The New York Times, NBC News, ABC News, and Focaldata, meanwhile, have him at 37%—all second-term lows. Nate Silver’s polling average keeps falling as well. The Iran war is clearly a losing issue for Trump. Sixty-four percent of the country calls it the wrong decision. Just one in four Americans says it was worth it. Even within his own party, only 62% of Republicans approve of how he’s handling the war. But on cost of living—the issue he rode to re-election—Republicans are now split: 47% approve, 46% disapprove. The worst dealmaker forgot about the people he made the deal with. November is coming. The country has all but made up its mind about this regime. But a poll doesn’t sign a law, swing an election, or stop the regime from turning a courthouse into a trap. A governor, a mayor, and a judge just did that. Onward! Scott Thoughts on Governor Abigail Spanberger’s assault weapons ban in Virginia? What do Trump’s overwhelmingly abysmal poll numbers tell you about what’s coming in November? 🚨 Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have announced the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Data Center Moratorium Act, legislation that would enact a reasonable pause to the development of AI to ensure the safety of humanity. NOW IS THE TIME FOR ALL GOOD, DECENT, SANE PEOPLE TO COME TO THE AID OF OUR PLANET, NATION, DEMOCACY, AND HUMANITY ITSELF. Boom! Spanberger is coming in hot! Everything I wish I had in a governor. It amazes me that other like-minded governors have not done what Gov. Spanberger has done?????!!!!!! She's one of our newest governors!!!!! I do not understand why governors like Newsom have not put such a state law into effect...... Yes, the NRA will fight it; but this is not about taking away a person's right to own a gun. It is about not allowing you to buy a weapon whose only use is to kill people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aaaaaaaaaaagh!!! I agree! And a weapon not just to kill people, but to blow away dozens at a time, FAST. It’s outrageous. I like our governor (Shapiro - PA), but he could definitely do more. I guess his concern is the red vote in the middle of the state: remember that Pennsylvania is Philadelphia in the east, Pittsburgh in the west, and Alabama in the middle. I'm in NE PA and I mostly like Shapiro. Pennsylvania is gun happy and fossil fuel crazy. He is beholden to both groups... sadly. This is my biggest gripe, Shapiro pushing the data centers and crap we don't want or need. He's not terrible, but there's still a lot of work to be done. It’s about money. Unfortunately, these lobbyists dazzle new Reps with $ and gifts. Happy to tell you that Washington state also has banned assault weapons since 2023. You can still own one, or inherit it, but you can only sell it to a licensed firearms dealer. This seems to have limited the unlawful use of them. So it can be done! :-) Ms. Spanberger is the complete opposite of Sleepy Dr. Jesus in every way. She appears to have been a serious college student, earned an MBA, is multi-lingual, went to work in national public service right out of the gate - US Postal Service Inspector, CIA analyst, Congresswoman for that region of Virginia south of DC, north of Richmond. Bruce Springsteen told me a few weeks ago in Atlanta that "honor, honesty, character, humility, compassion, humanity, decency, morality, and true strength" all still matter, and to me, Ms. Spanberger epitomizes each one. It goes without saying that every one of these virtues is entirely missing from Sleepy Dr. Jesus, his entire Cabinet, and most congressional and SCOTUS Republicans. I keep emailing Governor Hochul and telling her she needs to follow suit. But I get "thank you for your email" back. Governor Spanberger is my hero. We are seeing more fierce women governors standing strong for the people. Spanberger is an outstanding example. Amy Acton for OH!! We don't want you, Vivek!!! Omg. Vivek 🤢 Yep.... he flies over the state in his jet while Amy is out there with the people, pounding the pavement and covering the state by car. In her Jeep! 🚘 NJ Gov. Mikie Sherrill has also signed legislation to prevent ICE overreach and to protect people in NJ from some of the horrors inflicted on Minnesota. Our assault rifle ban has existed for several years, and we are one of the safest states when it comes to gun violence. Governor Spanberger has more courage and a stronger spine than anyone sitting on the red side of the Capital. More than the red side of all America. Heck yeah! This is pure resistance fuel. Big changes can happen fast. Buckle up, folks! That’s right! Buckle up! “It’s the law”! Here is to Ras Baraka and to Abigail Spanberger! Here is to the Judges who have detected the administration’s lies! I think that despite all the Supreme Court and Red state machinations (which are abominable- we MUST fix the Supreme Court with added seats and term limits!) the Democrats will win big in November. They MUST. WE MUST! :-) We cannot survive as a democracy with a partisan Supreme Court. They are destroying our constitution . It is common sense gun safety. We must all vote Blue in November, and make sure we participate in local elections and anticipate and work against attempts at voter suppression. Even without your prompt, Scott, I was going to post my absolute *highest* praises for Ms. Spanberger - she has been delivering for VA since day one and I wish she were governor of my state! She’d make an excellent president, too!! 👏👏👏👏💕 What about her acquiescence re: voter approved Congressional maps? Is she standing up for the very same voters who put her in office? Black voters turned out in droves to support her. Now that they are being disenfranchised, and she has opportunity to uphold maps to protect their ballot access, it appears she has chosen not to do so in deference to a flawed decision from a corrupt court. I didn’t know about that. What could she lawfully do? If she’s being selfish and/or bigoted, that would surprise me, but this day and age, it’d only be mild surprise. Still, I don’t know, but repercussions for going against the SCOTUS exist for everyone but trump. Corrupt is right, times a million. I agree! I don't live in VA but if I did and had voted on the redistricting thing I'd be outraged. In fact I am outraged and even wrote to her about it! There's no way ANY court should have ANY right to turn over a vote of the people!!! I live in CO, where our governor did something equally awful by letting Tina Peters, election denier and actually effed around with ballots, out early! She was sentenced to 9 years but Polis just set her free, because he got "threatened" by tRUMP??? I wrote to him too! Regarding Trump’s rapidly descending poll numbers: I am less concerned about November than about a ramp-up of all the stupid and sadistic crap he’s going to pull to further subvert democracy. My only cautious hope is that his raw stupidity — exacerbated by further dementiaform decline—will continue to outpace his consistent malevolent intentions… I agree. The latest ploy of robbing our taxes to compensate the J6 criminals must not be forgotten by us and Congress. And we must be ready for the next violation of our constitution with protests and contacts with Congress. The list of transgressions continues to grow, so how can our members of Congress keep current with Articles of Impeachment--maybe by leaving space for the additional violations yet to occur! Agreed. Polls are about as valuable as mood rings, IMO. What do I hear coming in Nov? The Safarii's playing WIPEOUT!!!! I do hope you are right. I just think of our total disappointment in the 2024 election. So we need to not get ahead of ourselves and keep doing what we are doing and pray people turn out this time. HOPE does not win ELECTIONS! This took lots of hard work to DEFEAT ANTI-DEMOCRACY AIPAC! Lots of PHONE CALLS and KNOCKING ON DOORS! Get involved with a GROUP. Make sure to check OPEN SECRETS before supporting ANY candidate - lots of CONCEALED DARK MONEY being invested. ANTI-DEMOCRACY AIPAC is concealing their contributions with NEW NAMES of their groups. From SUNRISE PAC: WE WON. As Chris Rabb said tonight: “Many people told me this wasn’t possible. Tonight we showed that the many can beat the money.” I was at Chris Rabb’s election party tonight, and I know this is just the beginning. The energy in Philly was electric. Organizers, young people, working people, families, volunteers, and everyone who poured time, energy, and hope into this race helped make history tonight. I could not be more proud. Tonight sent a clear message: people are done with politics as usual. Voters in PA-03 showed that people are not asking for less. They are asking for more: more courage, more vision, and leaders willing to fight for working people instead of corporate power. If you’re fired up by tonight, now’s a good moment to help us keep building. Can you chip in to turn this win into lasting power for working people? Chris Rabb defeated an opposition backed by AIPAC and corporate money, proving that a people-powered movement can take on the political establishment and win. This race showed the power of grassroots organizing over big money and political machines. Sunrise Movement was one of the first national organizations to endorse Chris Rabb, and together we helped build a massive organizing effort across the district. We made 54,800 calls for Chris Rabb, and our coalition knocked on more than 100,000 doors across PA-03. That’s what people power looks like. |
