I didn’t wake up on January 6, 2021, knowing Donald Trump would incite a violent insurrection on Capitol grounds. Neither did Harry. We both went to the Capitol to do our jobs and put our oath to our country above all else.
After witnessing the violence of that day, I had no choice but to vote to impeach Donald Trump. I was one of the ONLY House Republicans to serve on the January 6 committee to hold him accountable.
As a result, I received constant death threats. My own party ostracized me. But I will never regret putting our democracy first. That’s why I know Harry will put our democracy first in Washington. He stood between Trump’s violent mob and our democracy on January 6 — and democracy won.
We can’t afford two more years of Trump’s disastrous trifecta. We need courageous leaders like Harry in Washington to stand up to Trump and fight for our freedoms.
